This Health and Safety Policy sets out how we protect our employees, contractors, clients, visitors, members of the public and the environment during all gardening and landscaping activities.

Everyone working with or on behalf of Gardeners Sipson is required to follow this policy and the associated procedures at all times.

Health and Safety Objectives

Our main objectives are to prevent injury, protect health, maintain safe workplaces and deliver services without causing harm to people or property. Management Responsibilities

Company management is responsible for implementing this Health and Safety Policy and ensuring that suitable arrangements are in place to control risks. This includes:

Supplying and maintaining safe tools, machinery and equipment used in garden maintenance, landscaping and waste removal.

Employee and Contractor Responsibilities

Every person working for Gardeners Sipson has a duty to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who could be affected by their actions. All employees and contractors must:

Follow company procedures, method statements and site rules at all times.

Use tools, machinery and gardening products only for their intended purpose and in accordance with training and instructions.

Wear the personal protective equipment provided for tasks such as mowing, hedge cutting, tree work, use of power tools and handling of chemicals.

Report hazards, near misses, incidents and faulty equipment to management as soon as possible.

Never misuse equipment or remove safety guards and devices.

Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work

Before starting work on any gardening or grounds maintenance task, Gardeners Sipson will assess the risks to staff, clients and the public. Risk assessments will consider activities such as grass cutting, planting, pruning, hedge trimming, use of ladders, powered tools and garden waste removal.

Based on these assessments, safe systems of work will be put in place to eliminate or reduce risks so far as is reasonably practicable. Staff must follow the identified control measures, including site-specific instructions given at the start of each job.

Use of Tools, Machinery and Substances

All gardening tools and machinery will be selected, maintained and operated with safety as a priority. This includes hand tools, lawn mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, blowers and other powered equipment. Only trained and authorised persons may operate machinery.

Loading and unloading will be carried out with care to prevent injuries and damage, and parking will be planned so that work areas remain as safe as possible.

Accidents, Incidents and Emergency Procedures
